On Heaven and Earth album, Al Jarreau have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Al Jarreau comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Al Jarreau on ‘What You Do To Me’. Another great offering from Al Jarreau.
I hope to keep hearing Al Jarreau works for a long time to come. Blue Angel gets you up and jumping. What sets Heaven And Earth apart is Al Jarreau’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Superfine Love is a song to enjoy for years to come. Whenever I Hear Your Name has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Al Jarreau’s strong vocals come to the fore. This track is full of harmonies and gets Heaven and Earth off to a relaxing start. If I Break - My least favorite song on this album. Blue In Green (Tapestry), Pt. I-’The Dedication’ is a great opener for Heaven and Earth. I’ve found myself listening to Blue In Green (Tapestry), Pt. II-’The Dance’ back to back and back many times.
