It has been twelve years Alpha Blondy’ last studio CD, “Masada” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Alpha Blondy had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Since completing 1992’s ‘Multipartisme (Mediocratic)’, Alpha Blondy fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This album is awesome.
Yeye is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Masada have ended. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Mystic Night Move is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Simple and heartfelt closing track Les Chiens closes Masada on a high note. Masada is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Alpha Blondy ever produced. The sound in Houphonet Yako is really warm and Alpha Blondy’s signature voice is still very much present. Fulgence Kassy one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. God Is One - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Desert Storm is perfect. Ca Me Fait Si Mal gets you up and jumping.
