This is the first studio album from Altan since bad diagnosis in 1992. Harvest Storm isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This is one of the best Cd’s Altan has dropped to date. If you love Altan as much as I do, then Altan Harvest Storm is the CD for you!
Donal Agus Morag - arguably the best track on Harvest Storm album. After you’ve listened to King Of The Pipers, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Seamus O’shanahan’s-Walking In Liffey Street sets the tone for the entire album. Mo Choill is one of the best records ever. The Snowy Path is the more seemingly obscure song on Harvest Storm that bear up best to repeated listening. Drowsy Maggie-Rakish Paddy-Harvest Storm is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. A great put together song. This is probably my favorite song on the album. I can’t stop playing The Rosses Highlands. Strong, powerful vocals of Altan in A Nobleman’s Wedding are very impressive. Bog An Lochain-Margaree Reel-The Humours Of Westport is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit.
