Amina’s debut, ‘Wa Di Ye’, does not fit easily into one genre. There is so much to love about Amina, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Amina’s album Wa Di Ye falls to No. 2 with 543,000, a sales slide of 87%. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Wa Di Ye.
Atame is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Song La Mauvaise Graine is actually a funny song. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Mammou Ayni on Wa Di Ye is solid and easy to listen to. Salam can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Amina is all about. Ezzayakoum is pretty funky and mellow. Digge is another favourite of mine. A L’abri Des Portes Qui Claquent is worth the money. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: I Guluness, which shows, blatantly, how much Amina has evolved as a singer. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Zahra from the beginning to the end. Lyrics of Ma Musique Est Cassee are precise and evocative.
