While no new Billy Cobham album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1992 tour in North America. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Billy Cobham’s album By Design falls to No. 2 with 374,000, a sales slide of 90%. I am not a real Jazz music type of person, but i have to admit ‘By Design’ really is amazing. This album is a scorcher!
Street Urchin - To me, this is the best song on the By Design. The song feels complete. Serengetti Plains is a astounding, simple song by Billy Cobham at the top of his game. Kinky Dee the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Slidin’ By - This is a very lively song. I find myself hearing bits of Street Urchin here and there throughout my waking hours. All of songs on By Design and have something to say letting alone Permanent Jet Lag. The sound of Serengetti Plains is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor.
