For older fans Epitaph CD1 will put a massive smile accross your face. Since Charles Mingus last CD (Epitaph CD1) on Capitol Records back in 1990, I have felt a massive void in my life. This is one of the best Cd’s Charles Mingus has dropped to date. This is one of Charles Mingus best albums
Percussion Discussion - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Main Score, Part 2 has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Charles Mingus’s strong vocals come to the fore. Started Melody make listening to Charles Mingus like being in some sort of time warp. Better Get It in Your Soul on Epitaph CD1 is solid and easy to listen to. Only one song from Epitaph CD1 named Soul really got me. Moods in Mambo is a gorgeous sing-along. Self Portrait/Chill of Death is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. O.P. (Oscar Pettiford) is the albums biggest surprise. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Please Don’t Come Back from the Moon.
