For older fans Shhh will put a massive smile accross your face. This twelve-song debut EP shows the promise that Chumbawamba has. While no new Chumbawamba album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1992 tour in Asia. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Big Mouth Strikes Again - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Chumbawamba. Nothing That’s New pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Musically Behave is superior to other tracks in Shhh. After about the third Snip Snip Snip listen through, I began to believe this song is Chumbawamba’s essence. As always, Chumbawamba’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Happiness Is Just A Chant Away is beautiful, yet underrated track. Pop Star Kidnap - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Within the first few notes of Sometimes Plunder it’s perfectly clear that Chumbawamba is living this song. Don’t judge You Can’t Trust Anyone Nowadays on the first listening. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Stitch That because the melody in the chorus is so good.
