This album has some very good songs like Honeysuckle Rose and Pennies From Heaven. On the Luxembourg charts, superstar Count Basie’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Complete Decca Recordings - 1937 (CD 1) carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Pennies From Heaven - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. As always, Count Basie’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Boo Hoo is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Count Basie ever produced. The Glory Of Love is a fine track on any terms. If you are a Count Basie fan, you will love Boogie Woogie (I May Be Wrong). Count Basie sings Smarty (You Know It All) in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. A great put together song. Listen My Children and You Shall Hear is another strong production from Count Basie. John S Idea is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. It’s such an underrated song. Good Morning Blues-2nd Take is nothing but pure genius. Our Love Was Meant To Be is the more seemingly obscure song on Complete Decca Recordings - 1937 (CD 1) that bear up best to repeated listening. Time Out is just simply stunning. Topsy makes a person feel exquisite. I Keep Remembering is a amazing, simple song by Count Basie at the top of his game. Out The Window is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Best song on the album, love it. I believe Let Me Dream is one of the most amazing, heartfelt songs ever written.
