There is so much to love about Dave Alvin, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. On the Greece charts, superstar Dave Alvin’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Dave Alvin’s album Blue Blvd falls to No. 2 with 420,000, a sales slide of 90%. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Blue Blvd.
Blue Blvd is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. The sound of Brand New Heart is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Dry River one of the best in my collection. Gospel Night - My least favorite song on this album. Dave Alvin has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Music and lyrics of Plastic Rose creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Rich Man’s Town. Wanda And Duane - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Why Did She Stay With Him - A strong beat. Haley’s Comet is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day.
