Since completing 1992’s ‘Rhodos’, Die Flippers fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Lead single “Rhodos” and “Adios Heit Auf Wiederseh’n” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I am not a real Rock music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Sieben Tage Sonnenschein’ really is amazing. Rhodos and Adios Heit Auf Wiederseh’n is really good.
Once you hear Adios Heit Auf Wiederseh’n, you will listen to it over and over. After you’ve listened to Sieben Tage, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Die Flippers allows each song to breathe and flourish. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Sieben Tage Sonnenschein is Lago Maggiore. Du Bist Alles Was Ich Hab - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Ein Sonntag In Paris actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Die Flippers’s face. I loved Santa Maria Goodbye the first time I heard it. Die Flippers breathes new life into the music in Rote Rosen. Gib Mir Die Hand is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Some call Sonnenschein Am Strand Von San Josy from Sieben Tage Sonnenschein as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen.
