On the Jamaica charts, superstar Die Flippers’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Sommertraume is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Since completing 1992’s ‘Sommertraume’, Die Flippers fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This album is awesome.
Charming song, great melody. It’s such an underrated song. Bella Bianca is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Sommertraume. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Du Bist Alles Was Ich Hab - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Die Flippers. No Die Flippers song has come close to capturing my attention as Santo Domingo did. San Marino Bei Nacht is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Was Wird Morgen Sein is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Sommertraume have ended. The sound in Wo Meine Sonne Scheint is really warm and Die Flippers’s signature voice is still very much present. In Einen Sommer Lang Auf Mallorca… the music gets its power. Fernandos Traum one of the best in my collection. As always, Die Flippers’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Je T’Aime Heisst Ich Liebe Dich is probably the most interesting track on Sommertraume. Sie War Ein Kind Der Sonne - I like this one. I loved Wenn Der Sommerwind… the first time I heard it.
