This disc has all of the essential DJ Quik classics. There is no doubt that DJ Quik has talent. Since completing 1992’s ‘America’z Most Complete Artist’, DJ Quik fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Mo’ Pussy is a bit different from DJ Quik stereotypical stuff. Way 2 Fonky gives taste of what makes DJ Quik special as a musician. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. DJ Quik has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. After you’ve listened to Me Wanna Rip Your Girl, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. When You’re A Gee is the more seemingly obscure song on Way 2 Fonky that bear up best to repeated listening. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Strong, powerful vocals of DJ Quik in Only Fo’ Tha Money are very impressive. Let Me Rip Tonite is a excellent song and it grows on you. Once you hear Niggaz Still Trippin’, you will listen to it over and over. Tha Last Word one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard.
