The One isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Elton John’s album The One falls to No. 2 with 170,000, a sales slide of 84%. There is so much to love about Elton John, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
One of the songs that always stick in my mind is On Dark Street because the melody in the chorus is so good. Runaway Train is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. In Simple Life Elton John spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Sweat It Out which is my favorite is a truly Elton John sounding song. Elton John breathes new life into the music in The Last Song. The North one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. The One is perfect. Understanding Women is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This track is full of harmonies and gets The One off to a relaxing start. Whitewash County is the most memorable and excellent.
