When you buy a Ennio Morricone album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Ennio Morricone on ‘Hamlet (Version 1)’. It has been thirteen years Ennio Morricone’ last studio CD, “Hamlet” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
In The King Is Dead Ennio Morricone is at his best. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Ennio Morricone. What A Piece Of Work Is Man (1:38) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. The Prayer on Hamlet is solid and easy to listen to. Once The Ghost gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Hamlet is The Play. The Banquet is the funkiest number on the album. Dance For The Queen is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Ophelia Version 2 is a medium tempo tune. Hamlet’s Madness rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Hamlet Version 2 catches attention immediately, Simulated Madness without a doubt is the standout song of Hamlet. I loved The Closet the first time I heard it. The sound in Second Madness is really warm and Ennio Morricone’s signature voice is still very much present. Put To Be Or Not To Be into car stereo for your highway driving All of songs on Hamlet and have something to say letting alone Solid Flesh. You have to get essence of the The Vaults’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece.
