This album has some very good songs like What’s On Your Mind and Teach The Children. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Eric B. and Rakim energies, virtually a rebirth. Self-described as Rap: Hip-Hop with lots of words, Eric B. and Rakim comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album is in perfect progression from Eric B. and Rakim!
Teach The Children had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Pass The Hand Grenade as a highlight of Don’t Sweat the Technique contains a ton of perfect melodies. Casualties Of War is the more seemingly obscure song on Don’t Sweat the Technique that bear up best to repeated listening. Rest Assured is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. The Punisher is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Relax With Pep is a bit different from Eric B. and Rakim stereotypical stuff. Keep The Beat is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. What’s Going On one of the best in my collection. Know The Ledge - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Kick Along which is my favorite is a truly Eric B. and Rakim sounding song.
