Since Glenn Miller last CD (Big Band Bash) on SixSteps records back in 1990, I have felt a massive void in my life. Big Band Bash carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. It’s natural for Glenn Miller to take a stab at ‘Moonlight Serenade’ considering her long-professed love for Madonna. I wish that “Big Band Bash” album was instrumental.
This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Opening track American Patrol shows the best of Glenn Miller. Tuxedo Junction is simply amazing. I’ve Got A Gal In Kalamazoo motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. A String Of Pearls - Glenn Miller first major hit. Song Of The Volga Boatmen is another strong production from Glenn Miller. Voice of Glenn Miller in Perfidia is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Glenn Miller has astounded me with this amazing track. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. St. Louis Blues March is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Anvil Chorus is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. After about the third Johnson Rag listen through, I began to believe this song is Glenn Miller’s essence. My Melancholy Baby is the most memorable and astounding. Sun Valley Jump one of the best in my collection. Sunrise Serenade is a marvelous, simple song by Glenn Miller at the top of his game. Serenade In Blue - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Once The Jumpin Jive gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Farewell Blues as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Little Brown Jug - A catchy, upbeat tune. Hallelujah is pretty funky and mellow. In Under A Blanket Of Blue you won’t find any flashy solos.
