Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Howlin’ Wolf’s new album to that on ‘The Chess Box CD1′ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. There is so much to love about Howlin’ Wolf, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. I am not a real Blues music type of person, but i have to admit ‘The Chess Box CD1′ really is amazing. Howlin’ Wolf is one of my favourite bands of all time.
The sound of How Many More Years is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. In Howlin’ Wolf Boogie you won’t find any flashy solos. Wolf Is At Your Door is a striking and quite long song. I loved Mr. Highway Man the first time I heard it. I hope to keep hearing Howlin’ Wolf works for a long time to come. Bluebird is the albums biggest surprise. Saddle My Pony is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. A fantastic track full of wonder. This track is full of harmonies and gets The Chess Box CD1 off to a relaxing start. Work For Your Money - For me, this is the best of the album. Mama Died and Left Me - This is a very lively song. It’s a great pleasure to listen to All Night Boogie (All Night Long) from the beginning to the end. Streamline Woman is a bit of a show-tune. Crazy About You Baby is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Simple and heartfelt closing track You Gonna Wreck My Life closes The Chess Box CD1 on a high note. Nice and different song. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Howlin’ Wolf offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Song Rockin’ Daddy is actually a funny song. Once you hear Baby How Long, you will listen to it over and over. Evil is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. I’ll Be Around is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Forty-four - Howlin’ Wolf first major hit. Who Will Be Next - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Howlin’ Wolf.
