On the Brazil charts, superstar Howlin’ Wolf’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Since Howlin’ Wolf last CD (The Chess Box CD3) on EMI Records back in 1991, I have felt a massive void in my life. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Howlin’ Wolf. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like The Chess Box CD3.
The sound of Three Hundred Pounds Of Joy is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Built For Comfort pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Killin’ Floor is a fine track on any terms. Once My Country Sugar Mama gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. You have to get essence of the Louise’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. I Walked From Dallas is so unique, as each one of the songs is. I’ve found myself listening to Tell Me What I’ve Done back to back and back many times. Howlin’ Wolf must have run out of lyrics on the next track Don’t Laugh At Me. Ooh Baby (Hold Me) is one of the best records ever. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Opening track My Mind Is Ramblin’ shows the best of Howlin’ Wolf. The song feels complete. Dust My Broom (I Believe I’ll) without a doubt is the standout song of The Chess Box CD3. I’m The Wolf (Acoustic) is worth the money. Ain’t Goin’ Down That Dirt Road I just LOVE this mix! Mary Sue as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Hard Luck is a great opener for The Chess Box CD3. The Red Rooster - To me, this is the best song on the The Chess Box CD3. The sound in Moving is really warm and Howlin’ Wolf’s signature voice is still very much present.
