It has been one years Indie - Various Artists’ last studio CD, “Kill Rock Stars” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Thom Yorke has compared writing for Indie - Various Artists’s new album to that on ‘Kill Rock Stars’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. It’s natural for Indie - Various Artists to take a stab at ‘Girl Germs (Bratmobile)’ considering her long-professed love for Gustav Holst. This is what good Indie should be.
Loch Ness (Some Velvet Sidewalk) is a strong cut, one of many. I like Don’t Mix The Colors (Courtney Love) because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. N.O.U. Cooking With Gas! (Nation Of Ulysses) is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. A fantastic track full of wonder. Narrow (Mecca Normal) makes a person feel amazing. Beeswax (Nirvana) - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. When I listen to My Red Self (Heavens To Betsy) in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Strong, Warm And In Command (Steve Fisk) is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Indie - Various Artists released so far. Feels Blind (Bikini Kill) - This is a very lively song. I find myself hearing bits of Reaper Song (Witchy Poo) here and there throughout my waking hours. Ever Since My Accident (Melvins) - a classic song. After few listenings I started to like Immediate Impound Zone (Infamous Menagerie) more and more. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Kill Rock Stars. Everybody And Their Dog (Fitz Of Depression) to me is the best you can get from Indie - Various Artists. Red Dress (Jad Fair) - To me, this is the best song on the Kill Rock Stars. There is marvelous mix of music in 8-Ball D (7 Year Bitch). I.O.U. (Kreviss) is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. I like to sing along with Untitled, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes.
