Iva Bittova was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Iva Bittova and River Of Milk together. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Iva Bittova on ‘Vodofon (Waterphone)’. River Of Milk isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Iva Bittova is one of my favourite bands of all time.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Dirv Nez Majoranka (Before), which shows, blatantly, how much Iva Bittova has evolved as a singer. I love the melodic melody of Proudem Mleka (River Of Milk) and to this day it makes me feel good. Zvonky (Bells) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Iva Bittova ever produced. Nice and different song. Ples Upiru is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Viola is pretty funky and mellow. Hral Kdosi Na Hoboj (Someone Played The Oboe) is a song to enjoy for years to come. Blew our minds when we first heard Divna Slecinka. Viola II has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Iva Bittova’s strong vocals come to the fore. Jedna Sestra Bratra Mela (There Was A Sister Had A Brother) rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
