This is one of the best Cd’s James Brown has dropped to date. Since completing 1991’s ‘Please, Please, Please’, James Brown fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. James Brown’s debut, ‘James Brown - 20 All-Time Greatest Hits!’, does not fit easily into one genre. James Brown - 20 All-Time Greatest Hits! is not something you should pass up.
This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Hot Pants, Pt.1 - To me, this is the best song on the James Brown - 20 All-Time Greatest Hits!. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on James Brown - 20 All-Time Greatest Hits! is Super Bad, Pts.1&2. Say It Loud (I’m Black And I’m Proud), Pt.1 gives taste of what makes James Brown special as a musician. The Payback is a bit different from James Brown stereotypical stuff. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Get On The Good Foot is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Night Train as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Cold Sweat, Pt.1 is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Try Me - A nice song. It’s a great pleasure to listen to It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World from the beginning to the end. Think is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag, Pt.1 is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. So much energy, so exciting a sound.I Got The Feelin’ - Check out that bassline! I Got You (I Feel Good) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. I like the idea behind Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine, Pt.1.
