Since completing 1990’s ‘Nibiro Ghono Andare’, Jazz - Various Artists fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This disc has all of the essential Jazz - Various Artists classics. For older fans Mahabharata will put a massive smile accross your face. Jazz - Various Artists “Mahabharata” is an amazing album.
Draupadi is a very catchy tune. Ontoro Momo actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Jazz - Various Artists’s face. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Satyavati is my favorite song on Mahabharata. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. I love the melodic melody of Bushi Oi Sudure and to this day it makes me feel good. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Mahabharata. Bhima is a cool sing-along. Markandeya 1 had me crying as I was able to relate so well. In Duryodhana the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Album opener Amba is a bright, upbeat ditty. The War - I just love it. Markandeya 2 is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Svetasvatara Upanisad - Check out that bassline!
