Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Jimmy Buffett on ‘Livingston Saturday Night’. Thom Yorke has compared writing for Jimmy Buffett’s new album to that on ‘Bars’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. ‘Bars’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Great Instrumental right here!
It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. The first time I listened to First Look I was struck by its cool sound. Musically The Wino and I Know is superior to other tracks in Bars. The Great Filling Station Ho.. actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Jimmy Buffett’s face. Why Don’t We Get Drunk - a classic song. Elvis Imitators can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Jimmy Buffett is all about. I can’t stop humming along Pencil Thin Moustache. Voice and instruments in Kick It In Second Wind complement each other. Desperation Samba (Halloween…..) is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. When Salome Plays the Drums gives taste of what makes Jimmy Buffett special as a musician. They Don’t Dance Like Carmen.. is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. The Pascagoula Run is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Bars. Sending the Old Man Home is exquisite work of Jimmy Buffett. Domino College is perfect. Excellent vocals and musical performances. The Weather is Here, I Wish .. is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Although Tampico Trauma is very melodic it is far from sad.
