John Prine’s debut, ‘German Afternoons’, does not fit easily into one genre. For older fans German Afternoons will put a massive smile accross your face. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that John Prine has. To me John Prine is the best band ever.
This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Out Of Love is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after German Afternoons have ended. Such hits like Sailin’ Around will leave you hooked. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Linda Goes To Mars - A catchy, upbeat tune. Let’s Talk Dirty In Hawaiian is a bit of a show-tune. I Just Want To Dance With You is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. John Prine breathes new life into the music in Love, Love, Love. Bad Boy is a gorgeous sing-along. They’ll Never Take Her Love From Me - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. I find myself hearing bits of Paradise here and there throughout my waking hours.
