Naked City isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. After seeing Batman, I had to have a good John Zorn cd. John Zorn was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from John Zorn and Naked City together. This is one of John Zorn best albums
This song is dynamic and dramatic. You Will Be Shot is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Latin Quarter - Okay, I just talked about depth. A Shot In The Dark catches attention immediately, John Zorn emotions are reflected through Reanimator. I came to like Snagglepuss. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Naked City. Lonely Woman is astounding. Igneous Ejaculation is a exquisite, simple song by John Zorn at the top of his game. I find myself hearing bits of Blood Duster here and there throughout my waking hours. No John Zorn song has come close to capturing my attention as Hammerheard did. Demon Sanctuary is really the reason why I recommend buying Naked City. Obeah Man (0:20) - awsome. Ujaku is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. John Zorn sings Fuck The Facts in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. I think Chinatown is the best song John Zorn has ever done. Punk China Doll - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. N.Y. Flat Top Box - This one is lively and fun. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Saigon Pickup from the beginning to the end. Album opener The James Bond Theme is a bright, upbeat ditty. Den Of Sins sets the tone for the entire album. Contempt is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Still going through Naked City and coming to appreciate Graveyard Shift more and more with every listen. Inside Straight is nothing short of a modern masterpiece.
