It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Jon Mark energies, virtually a rebirth. This disc has all of the essential Jon Mark classics. This twelve-song debut EP shows the promise that Jon Mark has. Land Of Merlin touched my soul like nothing else.
Tintagel has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. After few listenings I started to like The Birth Of Arthur more and more. Some of the arrangements found on Land Of Merlin are surprisingly edgy. Merlin and The Unicorn is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Land Of Merlin have ended. I find myself hearing bits of The Dream Of Arthur here and there throughout my waking hours. Perilous and Mystical Journey - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. The King, Queen and Castle - A catchy, upbeat tune. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Land Of Merlin. In Farewell To Childhood the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. The Vision is really the reason why I recommend buying Land Of Merlin.
