It has been fifteen years Joni Mitchell’ last studio CD, “The Hissing Of Summer Lawns” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Since completing 1987’s ‘In France They Kiss On Main Street’, Joni Mitchell fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It’s natural for Joni Mitchell to take a stab at ‘In France They Kiss On Main Street’ considering her long-professed love for UB40. Enjoy the show.
The Jungle Line - arguably the best track on The Hissing Of Summer Lawns album. I listened to the opening track Edith and The Kingpin and liked it a lot. Don’t Interrupt The Sorrow - Joni Mitchell first major hit. The sound in Shades Of Scarlett Conquering is really warm and Joni Mitchell’s signature voice is still very much present. After about the third The Hissing of Summer Lawns listen through, I began to believe this song is Joni Mitchell’s essence. The Boho Dance is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Harry’s House / Centerpiece is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after The Hissing Of Summer Lawns have ended. Sweet Bird is probably the most interesting track on The Hissing Of Summer Lawns. Don’t judge Shadows and Light on the first listening.
