While no new Keiko Matsui album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1991 tour in South America. Keiko Matsui’s debut, ‘Cherry Blossom’, does not fit easily into one genre. Cherry Blossom isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Great Jazz right here!
One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Foot Steps because the melody in the chorus is so good. The first time I listened to Frontier I was struck by its astounding sound. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. She Prays to the Wind stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Crescendo. Walking on the Bridge is a good listen every once in a while. Sail South is Keiko Matsui’s best work in years. Don’t judge Rainy Season on the first listening.
