It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Kenny Burrell Trio energies, virtually a rebirth. On the Portugal charts, superstar Kenny Burrell Trio’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. This is the first studio album from Kenny Burrell Trio since bad diagnosis in 1990. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Will You Still Be Mine?
It took me a little time but I ended up loving Will You Still Be Mine?. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with I’m a Fool to Want You. Kenny Burrell Trio is hitting on all cylinders in Trio. I Can’t See for Lookin’ - My least favorite song on this album. Cheek to Cheek sets the tone for the entire album. Broadway - A strong beat. Soft Winds is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Just A-Sittin’ and A-Rockin’ - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Well, You Needn’t is another favourite of mine.
