Since Kool and the Gang last CD (Emergency) on Mute Records back in 1990, I have felt a massive void in my life. It’s natural for Kool and the Gang to take a stab at ‘Emergency’ considering her long-professed love for Led Zeppelin. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Kool and the Gang energies, virtually a rebirth. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
In Fresh Kool and the Gang spins a tale you want to hear to the end. The opening track Misled is very much like you would expect from other albums. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Emergency is Cherish. Surrender make listening to Kool and the Gang like being in some sort of time warp. Nice and different song. You Are The One is possibly the best song Kool and the Gang has come up.
