fifteen years ago, Ladysmith Black Mambazo briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Hello My Baby”. I am not a real Folk music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Shaka Zulu’ really is amazing. Since completing 1987’s ‘Unomathemba’, Ladysmith Black Mambazo fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
I came to like Hello My Baby. Ladysmith Black Mambazo has astounded me with this amazing track. King Of Kings is just simply stunning. Lomhlaba Kawunoni (The Earth N…) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. It took me a little time but I ended up loving How Long?. In Ikhaya Lamaqhawe (Home Of The…) the music gets its power. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Yibo Labo (These Are The Guys). Rain, Rain, Beautiful Rain is another favourite of mine. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it.
