Since Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperial last CD (What You See Is What You Get) on Blue Note Records back in 1992, I have felt a massive void in my life. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperial. This disc has all of the essential Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperial classics. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Music in Life Is Like Gambling is excellent as in all tracks of What You See Is What You Get. Living For Today rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Long, Long Way From Home gets you up and jumping. Older Woman is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Out Of The House is Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperial’s best work in years. Packin Up is the albums biggest surprise. Please Help (4:13) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. I like the idea behind Travellin’ Life. Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperial has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. What Am I Gonna Do? has a fun tempo. What You See Is What You Get - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody.
