On the Norway charts, superstar Madredeus’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Madredeus on ‘Matinal’. Madredeus was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Madredeus and Lisbon Vol.1 together. IT makes me wanna dance!
A Cidade catches attention immediately, A Peninsula is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Blew our minds when we first heard Cuidado. O Ladrio - Check out that bassline! O Pomar Das Laranjeiras is outstanding work of Madredeus. I’ve found myself listening to Mudar De Vida back to back and back many times. Some call Canto De Embalar from Lisbon Vol.1 as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. I think O Navio is the best song Madredeus has ever done. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. In As Ilhas Dos Acores it becomes nowhere more obvious that Madredeus has yet to define own style. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing.
