There is so much to love about Max Romeo and the Upsetters, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Self-described as Reggae with lots of words, Max Romeo and the Upsetters comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. War Ina Babylon carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. To me Max Romeo and the Upsetters is the best band ever.
Music of Uptown Babies is gentle, never overbearing. A unique and uplifting song. After about the third War Ina Babylon listen through, I began to believe this song is Max Romeo and the Upsetters’s essence. Norman is a striking and quite long song. Stealin’ - This one makes me want to not only sing along. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Tan and See from the beginning to the end. Smokey Room is a bit different from Max Romeo and the Upsetters stereotypical stuff. Smile Out of Style - A classic Max Romeo and the Upsetters track.
