On the India charts, superstar Mayhem’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Lead single “Deathcrush” and “Necrolust” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Mayhem on ‘Deathcrush’. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Necrolust - A classic Mayhem track. Funeral Fog on Live In Leipzig (26.11.1990) is solid and easy to listen to. The Freezing Moon gets you up and jumping. I can’t stop playing Carnage. This song is dynamic and dramatic. After about the third Pagan Fears listen through, I began to believe this song is Mayhem’s essence. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right.
