It has been one years Mike Stern’ last studio CD, “Standards (and Other Songs)” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Standards (and Other Songs) is an amazing album, racked with beauty.For older fans Standards (and Other Songs) will put a massive smile accross your face. Standards (and Other Songs) is not something you should pass up.
Some call Source from Standards (and Other Songs) as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Mike Stern allows each song to breathe and flourish. L Bird is the albums biggest surprise. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Moment’s Notice is my favorite song on Standards (and Other Songs). Lost Time have really caught my ear and imagination. Windows is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Straight No Chaser motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. This song may be the most meaningful. Jean Pierre (1:44) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! This song stands out greatly from the others.
