This is one of the best Cd’s Naked City has dropped to date. On Heretic: Jeux Des Dames Cruelles album, Naked City have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Naked City energies, virtually a rebirth. Naked City “Heretic: Jeux Des Dames Cruelles” is an amazing album.
No Naked City song has come close to capturing my attention as Sex Games did. The Brood gives taste of what makes Naked City special as a musician. I like the idea behind Sweat, Sperm + Blood. Vliet is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Heretic: Jeux Des Dames Cruelles have ended. Heretic 1 - a classic song. Submission had me crying as I was able to relate so well. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Naked City. Catacombs defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Heretic 3 great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.My Master, My Slave has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Naked City’s strong vocals come to the fore. Naked City allows each song to breathe and flourish. The Conqueror Worm is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Dominatrix 5b is one of these floating songs. There is marvelous mix of music in Back Through The Looking Glass. Here Come The 7,000 Frogs is one of the best records ever. Still going through Heretic: Jeux Des Dames Cruelles and coming to appreciate Slaughterhouse / Chase Senquence more and more with every listen. Castle Keep is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Mantra Of Resurrected Shit is a great opener for Heretic: Jeux Des Dames Cruelles. Trypsicore is one of the coolest songs Naked City has ever recorded. Best song on the album, love it. Crosstalk makes a person feel perfect. Although Copraphagist Rituals is very melodic it is far from sad. If you are a Naked City fan, you will love Labyrinth.
