On Before and After The Storm album, Nirvana have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. After seeing School, I had to have a good Nirvana cd. Since Nirvana last CD (Before and After The Storm) on Virgin Records back in 1991, I have felt a massive void in my life. Before and After The Storm is not something you should pass up.
Floyd The Barber is a fine track on any terms. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Such hits like Smells Like Teen Spirit will leave you hooked. Nirvana must have run out of lyrics on the next track Come As You Are. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Music of Sliver is gentle, never overbearing. Molly’s Lips is the song that really did it for me. Nirvana sings Love Buzz in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Negative Creep is the albums biggest surprise. The End (0:50) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. I find myself hearing bits of Blew here and there throughout my waking hours. Nirvana allows each song to breathe and flourish. I like to sing along with About A Girl, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Scoff is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Lithium is absolutely incredible. Nirvana sings his heart out in Been A Son. On A Plain is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Swap Meet great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Nirvana has astounded me with this amazing track. Smells Like Teen Spirit is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This song stands out greatly from the others.
