Lead single “The Book Of The Dead (Part 1)” and “The Armies Of The Pharaos” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. When you buy a Philippe de Canck album, you know exactly what you’re getting! There is so much to love about Philippe de Canck, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This album is in perfect progression from Philippe de Canck!
The Armies Of The Pharaos make listening to Philippe de Canck like being in some sort of time warp. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. I think Cleopatra is the best song Philippe de Canck has ever done. Nefertiti’s Marriage gives good insight into the truths. In The Garden Of Louksor is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Philippe de Canck released so far. Philippe de Canck allows each song to breathe and flourish. The Tears Of Isis is the song that really did it for me. After about the third The Book Of The Dead (Part 2) listen through, I began to believe this song is Philippe de Canck’s essence.
