Self-described as R&B: Soul with lots of words, Ruth Brown comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. On the Greece charts, superstar Ruth Brown’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Ruth Brown’s album Fine and Mellow falls to No. 2 with 245,000, a sales slide of 72%. To me Ruth Brown is the best band ever.
I Ain’t Got Nothin’ But The Blues is pretty funky and mellow. Charming song, great melody. Salty Papa Blues is a exquisite song and it grows on you. I’lll Crown In My Own Tears - arguably the best track on Fine and Mellow album. Know Me A Kiss gets you up and jumping. It’s Just A Matter Of Time is the albums biggest surprise. Don’t Get Around Much Anymore which is my favorite is a truly Ruth Brown sounding song. Nothing Takes The Place Of You is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Fine and Mellow. Musically I’ll Be Satisfied is superior to other tracks in Fine and Mellow.
