It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Saint-Preux energies, virtually a rebirth. Phytandros carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. thirteen years ago, Saint-Preux briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Naissance De Yaha”. Exciting stuff.
After about the third Naissance De Yaha listen through, I began to believe this song is Saint-Preux’s essence. Saint-Preux is one of artists that allow his songs like Ivresse Mecanique to stand on their own and be heard. Phytandros can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Saint-Preux is all about. Plaintes Des Abimes is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Aria De Syrna - Okay, I just talked about depth. Peuples De Feuilles Et De Fleurs is a amazing, simple song by Saint-Preux at the top of his game. Le Cri De Forets as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Agonie Des Angles I. I find myself hearing bits of Agonie Des Angles Ii here and there throughout my waking hours. The sound in Agonie Des Angles Iii is really warm and Saint-Preux’s signature voice is still very much present. Once Agonie Des Angles Iv gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Danse Du Soleil - A catchy, upbeat tune. Charming song, great melody. Le Chant Des Algues Bleues is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. I was truly moved when I heard Verse La Seve. A La Porte Des Siecles is the funkiest number on the album.
