There were many famous songs of Sam Cooke available. It has been eleven years Sam Cooke’ last studio CD, “One More River” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. There is so much to love about Sam Cooke, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Come and Go To That Land is beautiful, yet underrated track. Any Day Now have really caught my ear and imagination. I’m So Glad (Trouble Don’t Last Always) is the albums biggest surprise. One More River couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track He’ll Make A Way. Farther Along is probably the most interesting track on One More River. I was truly moved when I heard Wonderful. How Far Am I From Canaan gets you up and jumping. You have to get essence of the Peace In The Valley’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. I hope to keep hearing Sam Cooke works for a long time to come. Just Another Day is astounding song though, very addictive. Mean Old World is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Touch The Hem Of His Garment because the melody in the chorus is so good. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. This song may be the most meaningful. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. In Jesus, Wash Away My Troubles you won’t find any flashy solos. Nearer To Thee is probably the highlight of the album.
