Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Willie Williams’s new album to that on ‘Natty with a Cause’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This disc has all of the essential Willie Williams classics. Willie Williams’s debut, ‘Natty with a Cause’, does not fit easily into one genre. Willie Williams is one of my favourite bands of all time.
I love the melodic melody of Part in Armegedon and to this day it makes me feel good. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Natty With a Cause is nothing but pure genius. So Real is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. I find myself hearing bits of Promises here and there throughout my waking hours. What sets Watching and Waiting apart is Willie Williams’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Voice and instruments in Halilu Jah complement each other. Sun Is Shining is one of the best records ever. After about the third Our History listen through, I began to believe this song is Willie Williams’s essence.
