This is one of the best Cd’s Yello has dropped to date. There is so much to love about Yello, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Lead single “Oh Yeah” and “The Race” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is my first Yello Album and i must say i am blown away.
This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Drive Driven is astounding work of Yello. Rubberbandman as a highlight of Essential contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. I can’t stop humming along Vicious Games. Tied Up is probably one of Yello’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. There is amazing mix of music in Lost Again. Music and lyrics of I Love You creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. I hope to keep hearing Yello works for a long time to come. Pinball Cha Cha I just LOVE this mix! Bostich - This is a very lively song. Yello is one of artists that allow his songs like Desire to stand on their own and be heard. Jungle Bill is a strong cut, one of many. Call It Love - A nice song. Goldrush is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Essential. The Rhythm Divine is the albums biggest surprise.
